I'm here, hoping this will be an easy way to find what I'm looking for on the Internet. I "stumbled upon" this site when checking my site stats, and saw that someone posted one of my webpages here. So I was interested in how this works, and how I could link to sites I like, and would want others to visit.

It is good to find a credible spokesperson, and media coverage, saying "don't eat meat" among the things people can do to put the brakes on Global Warming.

This is a 60 minute documentary on environmental issues from a Jewish perspective. It is well worth watching. Just plan on devoting a time-block to watch.

I think it is very well done, and unique and refreshing to see people of faith, especially the number of rabbis who are in it, who have a compelling message that we don't hear enough (if ever) from our religious leaders. It also includes the other "Inconvenient Truth" that environmentalists don't talk about. Watch and learn.

I have heard similar things about what goes into commercial pet food, but it hadn't occurred to me that the same ingredients could be fed to the (vegetarian) animals that are raised for the consumption of their flesh. It also offers a good reason to raise "veganic" produce, instead of using animal-derived "organic" fertilizers. I have questioned how organic a fertilizer something like cow manure is, when cows are fed growth hormones and antibiotics. This article makes manure and other animal-based fertilizers seem even less organic than I imagined.
The Permaculture Concept - PIW

I watched all the videos, which became increasingly interesting as they went along. It is more than environmentalist. He talks about how 90% of the cost of food in NYC is because it isn't grown locally; how modern agriculture is an extension of World War II; how Third World people are forced to destroy their natural resources to sell them to the rich countries; how we could restore forests and ecosystems even in our own yards, etc. This is a poor overview. Please watch the videos. The first is sort of an introduction. The rest cover various topics. This is especially interesting to me, when my Church is big into supporting the Millenium Development Goals, to steer away from supporting conventional animal agriculture, toward something that will actually save or reclaim the environment and feed the people with abundance. This seems like a concept that would right a lot of wrongs.

This is an organization I know first hand, and clicked "I like it!" hoping others might check it out -- and maybe support their work. Fellow Mortals takes in injured and orphaned wildlife, with the intent of rehabilitating and releasing them back into the wild. They treat all animals with the same level of care, whether they are common back yard species or exotic. The animals they care for are treated as individuals whose lives matter.
